How To Be A Good Christian Believer

Introduction

As Christians, it is only natural that you want to become a better Christian believer than you already were and to grow closer to God. This is why we are always looking for ways how to improve ourselves and become better Christians. But of course, because we are humans we often get distracted by worldly possessions, and as such, we tend to lose our way from God. However, regardless of our sinful life, God still forgives and loves us. And because we are humans, we are constantly growing in our faith and life in general. If we look in the bible, it also says that Christian life is one that is constantly growing.

Look for Jesus in your heart!

Look for Jesus in your heart

As Christians, we are taught to believe that, the only way to eternal life is through Jesus Christ.

In John 14:6, Jesus said:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

This clearly states that, if you are to meet God, you have to first seek Jesus with all your heart. And how can you achieve this? Start praying today. Ask Him to forgive your sins and enter your heart and start living a good Christian believer life which is the Godly life!

Strengthen your bond with God

Strengthen your bond with God

How to strengthen your bond with God? Prayers! Just like how you talk and communicate to your close ones, you can also do the same with God.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, it reads, “Pray without ceasing.” Begin your prayers by thanking God for all the constant blessings in your life, praise Him, glorify His name, call out to Him and seek God in times of your good and bad days.

As Christians, there are two important ways in which you can strengthen your bond with God, fasting and praying. When we fast and pray, it helps us to train our minds and helps us to grow spiritually as well.

In Matthew 6:9-13, we have the Lord’s Prayer,

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.”

Cultivate the habit of reading your Bible daily

Cultivate the habit of reading your Bible daily

To become a good Christian Believer, one has to cultivate the habit of reading the bible every day. Reading the word of God can have numerous benefits and impacts in your life.

In John 6:63, Jesus says:

“The words I have spoken to you are my spirit and they are life.”

In other words, if you wish to grow closer to Jesus and God, the only way to this is, pick up the bible and start reading the bible today!

Repent for your sins!

Repent for your sins

This is very important. When you sin, what do you do? You confess and repent for your sins, right? To become a good Christian Believer is never easy considering how we mankind are born to commit sin. And sin comes with consequences and a price to pay. But amidst all that, you should confess and repent because our God is faithful and He loves us, He forgives our sins. He cleanses our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ who has redeemed us from the bondage of the darkness.

To repent means, we should turn the other way round from committing the same sins. And by doing so, it helps to make our faith stronger and help us to become better Christians in this world.

Obey God’s Commandments

Obey God's Commandments

As humans, we are not perfect. We commit sins every day in one way or the other. However, to be a good Christian Believer, one has to live a good Christian life by following God’s commandments and try to avoid committing sins.

In John 14: 21, it says,

“Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”

This means that, by following God’s commands, it also shows that we love Jesus Christ and by doing so, God loves us as well.

Acts of love, charity, and forgiveness

Acts of love, charity, and forgiveness

As Christians, we have been taught to follow in the footsteps of God and as such, you should try the acts of love, charity and forgiveness. You should reflect God’s love for you in how you treat people around you. Try reaching out to the poor and needy ones. And if someone wrongs you or does any hurtful things, you should always forgive them just as your perfect Father God has forgiven you for all of your sins you have committed, are committing, and will continue to commit in the future, as humans.

In the bible the Beatitudes (Matthew 5: 3-10) say:

“3.Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

5. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

6. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

7. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

8.Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

9. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

10. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Evangelize your faith with others

Evangelize your faith with others

In the bible, we come across a passage where Jesus Himself commands all His followers to spread the Word of God. In Mark 16:15, Jesus said: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”  As Christians, you should proudly evangelize your faith with others. This will strengthen your relationship with God and make you draw closer to Him.

In Matthew 5:14-16, it says

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
